I play on Steam too, no problems with Mods .... and I don´t think that you will have problems with Mac .... you only need to find your KSP main folder to put the stuff in the right place ! on my PC for exemble Programme(x86) / Steam / SteamApps / common / K..S..P..

the only bad think on Steam is , you can have only one Version on your system ... with the Non Steam you can have more with the same key ... let´s say one Original (no mods) and one or more with Mods !
