From a Reddit post asking about the difference: "A link will take you to the Imgur page with the comment section and ratings. the direct link will show only the image."
So if you're pasting the link found in the web bar, no, it won't display correctly because that link is pointing to the website. You can't "embed" a website page into Steam descriptions. Get the direct link, paste that between []****[/img] and you're all set.

To get the direct link, right click the image and select "Copy Image Link". That's what is says in Firefox. It might be different in IE, Edge, Chrome, etc.
