Shortage

Description
Welcome, test subject, to my second chamber, "Shortage". It seems someone changed a reflector cube dropper for a Franken cube one... making the test look impossible to solve. But it is not, it is absolutely solvable (read the WARNING, though). You might think that you are one cube short... but in fact, you've got more cubes than you need. every time you press the button, new cubes appear. Where do they come from?

NOTICE: No blue Frankencubes were harmed during the making of this chamber. Unfortunately, it did happen in my chamber "Underdog", which can be found here:

WARNING: THERE IS A SOMEHOW WEIRD (meaning not frequently seen) TECHNIC INVOLVED IN THE SOLUTION OF THE CHAMBER. Some people might call it an exploit, I'm (again) not sure that it is. Anyway, wether it is or not, the solution is not as orthodox as I promised HMW my next chamber after Underdog would be, and I apologise for this (the thing is, I just had this idea while playing one of Barbos' wonderful chambers, and had to create a test chamber immediately. You won't find this idea in Barbos' chambers but they're really worth playing). My next chamber (coming very soon) will be absolutely orthodox.

Also, a frequent use of F6 (and F7) is recommended. Mostly, F6 when you want to quicksave, and F7 when you want to load, because it you use F6 when you want to load and F7 when you want to save, it'll be a mess. So, remember: 6 saves, and 7 is a film by David Fincher starring Brad Pitt.

13/10/2012 Added some changes to prevent Portal-bumping, as pointed out by Mothalius (thanks, dude!)

I believe the chamber has been revised sine the last comment. I ended up with an extra ball. Great chamber.

Nice map)
About elevator: you can go up with cubes for better aim. And I didn't use franken there. I used floating laser cube glitch but it doesn't influence on solution

I figured it out, but found it too annoying to actually pull off. What's with the second ball? Interesting map; it's well-built and I did enjoy the process of getting the laser into the top roof. I'll take you up on the F4F; here's a fairly long challenge. Odysseys:

If you can beat it I'll review another map for you.

So, we're both making Frankenturret chambers? I'm working on a map pack where every test uses them. Anyway, looks like a cool map, It doesn't matter if it involves an odd solution.

Excelent puzzle, took me a while to work out the technic involved (partly because i didn't read the puzzle description). Looks like you might like the puzzle I published.

@Innocentive:

Yes, you do; sorry about the frustration. I tried to make it not too hard by placing the receptor and the laser in a 90º angle, so that it can be done almost with the naked eye. If you want my advice, what I do when I solve it is I save with F6 right before I send the piston platform up, in case I need little adjustment. If so, then I load with F7

Thanks a lot and I hope you will still enjoy it!

one question: do i have to place a reeflector on top of the franken cube on the piston platform before it moves up? if so this puzzle would be extremly frustrating as the cubes always move when the platform rises. Apart from that I enjoy the logic part of that puzzle a lot, figuring out how to achieve your goal step by step.
