If you are someone who probably never knew what this was (I had old Secret World on my wishlist for a few years before I knew about this) then look here. Perhaps some insight might help you out.

There are sites that are still updating a lot of information over the changes made from The Secret World (TSW) to Secret World Legends (SWL).

== Story ==
A deep, yet dark experience. After creating your character, you find out he/she is turned into a god of some sort through anima bugs you swallowed while sleeping and you become someone who can literally do everything most people can't do. Sprint endlessly, jump over walls with height, and many more things.

The story is extremely long and depth worthy. I strongly recommend unless you are a TSW veteran to watch all the cutscenes UNLESS you are doing repeat missions.

== Locations ==
While not many locations are available as of now, even getting past Level 30 is covered in the first main storyline mission, which has a lot of depth into it. You get to explore a dark island off the coast of Maine, the sands of Egypt, a modern-day representation of London, Seoul, and New York, and the castles of Transylvania.

== Leveling & Missions ==
Unlike most MMOs, the leveling of Secret World Legends is very slow paced. As of this review, I've only logged 24.4 hours, and I'm only Level 32. Mission variety is a huge plus here, many MMOs never put depth in their quests/missions. A downside is you cannot create another character on the game unless you buy a character slot for 1,000 Aurum (which is described below). In terms of missions, here, in Secret World Legends has 3 types, listed below:

- Action missions: Typical point & kill type missions. These are a staple in all MMO games.
- Sabotage missions (yellow): Missions that have some element of stealth in it. While not seen commonly in MMOs (not Payday 2, that does not count). By tripping the alarm, your character dies and you must restart a segment of that location. Some are tricky to solve, others are easier to solve.
- Investigation missions: Unlocked during the first major storyline. These are the absolute brain cruncher of an MMO. These missions REALLY require you to think outside the box (or just use a guide, lol) but, with the depth amount, you can seriously grab at these missions. These require a lot of thought into it, except for the tutorial, which is easy.

== Aurum ==
Every free-to-play game usually (almost always) comes with some sort of microtransaction. In this game, Aurum, which is Au (gold in the periodic table) rum. These are gold bars, used to purchase Marks of Favour (yes it is spelled like this in the game, the developers must be British English or something.) They are also used to purchase a character slot, and to upgrade your passive sprints.

== The Depth ==
There is so much to do in Secret World Legends. Even to get the full experience, you need to really keep an eye open for Hexagon Squares. In the game, by pressing "F" on them, you get intelligence based on a particular category. There are hundreds of those scattered throughout the world.
Each one of those you find gives a modest amount of Experience and Anima Shards. Anima shards are used to upgrade your gear.

== Final Thoughts ==
For a free to play MMO, I actually got myself into this one unlike other ones I have tried. Maybe they just aren't my style.

++ Positives ++
+ Free to play, forever, and all future content is free too. (According to developers)
+ Huge depth in a story driven game and lots of things to explore.
+ Mechanics aren't bad, however, to new players, they can be deceiving.
+ Scary. Why is this a positive? Try playing this in the dark.
+ You can actually not have to pay money to buy Aurum. While it is better then having to trade Mark of Favours (daily challenges) for them, you can acquire Aurum through the Exchange.
+ You can repeat missions every so often (72 hours non-Patron, or 8 hours with Patron status)

[] Neutral []
1] Patron system only renews every 30 days. There should be options to do it longer then 30 days. $12.99 is not a bad price per month for the perks you get from it.
2] Unless you buy Aurum, you are capped at getting Marks of Favour per day. Do not expect to make a lot without purchasing Aurum with cash.
3] Some quests are bugged. Developers have tried to iron out the bugs.
4] You do not usually see players out in the game world zones, like New England as much as other MMOs. Group instances also are fairly lengthy and not rewarding, plus to get loot, it requires Dungeon Keys.
5] Repeating missions is quite needed to get past certain level blockades, especially in New England.

-- Negative --
- Graphic settings with certain higher end graphics cards tend to cause framerate lag. I get average 50-70fps on high with a i5 and GTX 1060 6GB.
- Customer support is a long wait time. Try not to ask them for dumb questions if you want the queue time lowered.
- Cache keys cost Aurum. And, you loot caches a lot after you pass Level 15 in SWL. Sure, you get one free with Patron, but that isn't quite right.
- Getting items/weapons/talismans is hard, because enemies (except Champion enemies) do not drop any form of loot.

Overall:
8.3 / 10 (Mostly Positive)
