PROS:
+ huge campaign map
+ a LOT of various factions available to play
+ fun & tactical gameplay
+ interesting units
+ town upgrades & logistics
+ TONS of cool mods
+ medieval times atmosphere
+ Kingdoms DLC adds 4 new (separate) campaign maps

CONS:
- campaign map design and art are a bit less detailed/polished
- some optimalization/performance issues now and then
- sometimes wonky diplomacy system against AI
- weaker multiplayer

Comment:
Just like RTW I finally bought this game here on Steam so I would have a digital copy of it as my discs are getting old. And it is worth purchasing because it is a phenomenal RTS game and a great addition to the Total War series. The graphics have aged a bit but the game still looks good. Multiplayer is fun but the single-player campaign is what takes the cake. A huge map with many factions to choose from initially, later each defeated nation is unlocked as playable in the campaign. The gameplay is divided into 3 parts just like in RTW - cities management, sea battles and land battles. The management is great but the land battles are what makes this a classic. Most of the units, even siege engines, are nicely done and serve a purpose. The fighting is tactical and fair, although sometimes rather difficult. The AI still has some problems but usually just minor issues. On top of all this are the mods, the INCREDIBLE mods. There are so many it would be hard to write all the good ones but MY personal favourites are Stainless Steel, Europa Babarorum 2 & Third Age Total War. This game is worth your money if you like RTS games and is a great successor to RTW!
