PROS:
+ 24 interesting levels
+ huge weapons & traps variety (+ upgrades)
+ nice mix of tower defense & action
+ cool soundtrack
+ funny story

CONS:
- clunky placement of some traps
- some weird AI pathing
- no co-op
- cannot reset upgrades

Comment:
Story elements are fun though the connection of the levels could have used a campaign map of sorts as to why/how we move between these locations in the first place. Each level has a certain best possible path of using traps to ace it. But the good thing is that this is not mandatory and you can experiment too. Often you will find creative, or weird, uses for traps and master the levels your own way. While some levels let you build up your defences evenly others you just have to run a couple of times to know what enemies will spawn in which door. Your skill counts in not just the strategic placement of traps. But also delivering headshots is a great way to get enemies down quick, if your aim is good. Personally I love the crossbow. Mixed with the flame bracers the fighting felt really satisfying. While this worked for ME the choice is entirely yours, I believe most weapon & trap combinations can work. There are Apprentice, War Mage and Nightmare difficulties but the last one has to be unlocked. This is good because you do not get real breaks between waves in it and upgraded traps are needed. Speaking of which you can upgrade each trap using skulls you win by finishing the levels. However, the number of skulls you can get is fixed and upgrading is permanent so choose wisely based on what you like/use. The funky archer (& some trap) placement get in the way sometimes when you want to hurry but you need to keep shifting your cursor or the player to find a spot. This is annoying especially on Nightmare where you have limited time. Also the AI pathing is a bit weird but this can be both advantage and disadvantage (barricades FTW!). There's no cooperative mode though you can find that in the sequel Orcs Must Die! 2. The plus side is that you can finish this game yourself, as it was designed, while OMD!2 is more difficult to do on your own. Overall it's a good mix of tower defense and third-person action. Designed for people who like to place traps/units but don't just want to sit by and watch. Definitely worth a try.
