Yes I agree I was saddened by the lack of a manual save like SS had... Well written review makes mine look like gibberish, prolly cuz im a lazy bum..:steamhappy:

(2 months late but) thanks for actually updating this when the game got better! (Which apparently made Steam's recommendation engine throw this in the metaphorical dumpster for some reason. Ouch.)

Helpful review even if I don't agree. Manual saving was great in the original and unless they make the game easier I just can't imagine it being fun with manual saving turned off. I don't want to grind for 20 or 30 hours only to die to something that was impossible to forsee or avoid (including bugs). I mean, this is early access where players are unpaid testers yet they can't manually save and test if a fault is repeatable under the same or different circumstances?
Doesn't seem right.

Thanks for updating the review. Nice to know that the game is getting better :No1:

of course it is, perhaps even better. It is however, a different atmosphere. Sunless skies has less lovecraftian horror, and more of a vernian adventure feel. Things are relatively light and airy

Is the atmosphere and writing as good as in sunless sea? Lack of save options I can always work around by making backup copy of the save file.

Review updated after 25th October patch. Verdict still remains negative.
Two months on, major bugs from launch remain unresolved, recent patch has added several new bugs. Stability is the most critical issue currently.

Sunless Skies has updated today, and I'm already playing the update. I will alter this review once i've played enough to get a good feel of it.

So far, as a preliminary opinion, i can say that some, but not all of my major issues, have been fixed. And while its definitely an improvement, it will probably not be enough to change the rating to positive yet. Several major bugs are still present

hi dave. I'd say that the distances feel longer. They are, quite a bit larger. And everything feels more isolated due to not being tied together with landmasses.

Almost every port is large, too. Most of them are somewhat similar to khan's heart from sunless sea - in that you get at least a screen sized area of scenery to cruise around in before docking. Some, like traitor's wood and hybras, are really vast

Great review! I have a question to ask since you seem active in the comment section. I enjoyed sunless seas but always took an issue with how close everything felt. A House of Many Doors did a great job making the distances feel great even with the bland scenery. So other than it being empty for now how do the distances feel here?
