Specials stuck and other problems
We all know there are some maps with more problems than others.
When I was working on the Top 10 list I had some problems and I did some decisions based in my experience.
One example is the problem with the Special Infected getting stuck, in some maps it means the difference between life and death.
I made a list with some problems and possible solutions (I'm not saying these are the best solutions or rules you must follow, I'm just trying to say some possible problems in general).

[b1]Atrium[/b1]

- Problem?: The rooms close to the elevator, the one in the ground is specially problematic, some specials are stuck there,
no matter what you do, running or holding the bridge, Specials will keep stuck there for hours.

- Possible solution?: Drop on the hole in the 'safe room' and you can shot to the door when you are in the scaffold. You can also use a molotov in that room. It's possible that specials will get stuck again in few minutes making ur effort a bit pointless.

- Most acceptable solution: Don't risk your life because of it, if you have a chance drop to the scaffold and shot them or throw a molotov and go back to your strategy.

Underground

- Problem?: Getting slap by Tank and falling into a trap with no escape.

- Possible solution?: Use noclip to release from stuck place? (This situation only happens in this map, so I'm not sure if this is a good idea). You can fall in this trap even if you don't jump or stay on fence, you can get hit by charger and fall in there anyway.

- Most acceptable solution: Stay there and hope your teammates deal with it.

Motel

- Problem?: Spitbug from nowhere because of no reason. I'm not sure but you'll have to avoid some special areas that makes spitbug, this one[i.imgur.com] it's random and spitbug comes sometimes and sometimes not. Don't touch that wall because that's another reason why spitbug comes.
And this one[i.imgur.com] happens when you go there and Tank is close to you. Including the grass area causes spitbug, but I'm not sure.

- Possible solution?: Try to avoid this areas.

- Most acceptable solution: Keep playing with that crapy bug and stay away from those areas.

Stadium Gate

- Problem?: Specials getting stuck behind the roof playing in AK spot or Roof. Not sure where SI gets stuck when you play the Scaffold area.

- Possible solution?: Going to the roof to kill stuck specials every time you can, but it's risky and you have to do it almost every minute.

- Most acceptable solution: Play on scaffold, roof or any other place that does not make SI stuck. Playing on roof, someone can easy shoot with Sniper the specials climbing behind the fence at the back-right side.

Concert

- Problem?: Specials getting stuck on the windows[i.imgur.com].
Special Infecteds get stuck in the other windows as well, but this one is specially problematic.

- Solution:

You can use a molotov LIKE THIS but this solution is easier:
If you all go to the other side of the map[i.imgur.com], specials that are stuck will die, just make sure all your team goes far away from them. Doing it at 9, 12, 15 or when it's obvious there are no SI, it should be enough.

Generator Room

- Problem?: Specials stuck down in the door.

- Possible solution?: Drop sometimes to kill them, but it's risky.

In my opinion spitters are the most dangerous special in this map.
Play all 4 down, this strat has been tested and SI count seems more than ok.

If you play in the usual spot and Spitters get stuck the Spitters count is gonna be low, I know this is a problem that needs more specifications, but when I did the Top 10 list I didn't accept few times because low Spitters count. My reason of this decision was because in this strategy without spitters it's a lot easier because one single spitter can do enough dame or troubles to end the round quickly (Holding a small area without Spitters it's a lot easier).

Other times were not listed on the Top 10 because these had low SI count (below 4 SI/minute) or any other problems like using laser and using special ammo at the same time.

Rooftop

- Problem?: Specials and Tanks stuck because of running laps and spitbug (if you get spitbug while running your time probably will be bugged and not saved, I recomend not to run laps in the external areas of the map).
Specials stuck inside the building in the ladder, specially Boomer and Spitter.

- Most acceptable solution: Run laps at the top, or just try to hold as long as you can.
Specials stuck at the ladder inside the high building can be easy killed shooting thro the wall. When you don't see Boomer or Spitter it's because they are stuck there.

-------------------------------------------------------

Acceptable Special Infected count per minute:

We believe the lowest number of SI count has to be more than 6* Specials per minute (After Master Update July 2013).
Playing long rounds can make SI stuck (Atrium, Bedlam, Bridge) and sometimes it's too risky going to kill SI stuck or they get stuck lot of times.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

*I've made a list of the necessary SI count to be listed in the Top 10 All Maps List.
Every map is different and is not the same a short round of 20 minutes than one of 200 minutes, SI Count will vary on each map.

Special Infected count per minute:

Atrium: 7
Riverbank: 8
Bedlam: 7
Port The Passing: 9
Motel: 8
Stadium Gate: 7
Concert: -
Gator Village: 8
Plantation: 6
Burger Tank: 8
Sugar Mill: 7
Bus Depot: 9
Generator Room: -
Bridge: 7
Rooftop: 8
Traincar: 7
Port The Sacrifice: 7

This list might vary, depending on the SI counts in the rounds played, this is because the game stadistics will vary depending on the strategy or the game itself, the SI count is an orientative thing, remember to try to kill every SI stuck ;)

Concert & Generator Room are specially problematic and there are so many SI stuck in older rounds that is not possible to make a clear average SI count. Working on it.

-----

In the other maps I don't think there is any problem if you play in normal places.
Please feel free to say what you think ;)

Another possible solution is to use the 'Take a break' function which will cause the bot to take control and they will teleport to the other survivors after a short period if they find they're unable to path to them. I personally think this is the best solution, since otherwise you're breaking the rules and the fundamental philosophy and logic behind the rules by using noclip or relegating it to be essentially a death punch (which although fair isn't fun). It's something everyone can do, even on Official servers and punishes the survivor/team for letting themselves get caught in that situation being at the mercy of a bot controlled survivor for a few seconds.

I believe the spit bug only occurs close to the boundaries of the map, ie. in front of the truck cab on the highway or at the back near the fenceline of the highway or by hugging the fence line on the run to ammo on the roof, the best solution would be to avoid being in those areas and if you do get hit into those areas quickly vacate them.

- Most acceptable solution: Play all in stage.
The si also get stuck when playing on the stage sadly (albeit not as often) and I've noticed that tanks tend to get stuck more when on the stage than elsewhere.

@Azimuth I'm gonna test that Bedlam trick, but I can't see the difference between using admin and that, well is the same result but u need to go far away and probably die, at some point is better to restart or stay there, because no point to risk all for that imo ;)
About the spitbug areas on Motel, I know the area of the truck on the back is problematic, can't go there when Tank is close to you, but can't understand other places... I gess I'll have to make a couple of screenshots so people will know where not to stand.

The difference is that one takes you out of the game and leaves the team in a weakened state with a bot player where as the other has no consequence for the team which negates the poor decision making/positioning/mistakes that the team made that landed them there in the first place. Also one is possible on Official servers/servers you don't have admin to, the other is not.

@Azimuth, I've tested that AFK thing on Bedlam and didn't work for me, I'm not sure how that teleport works without being really stuck. I've also uploaded a couple of screenshots with 2 special areas that causes spitbug on Motel.

Hmm, I've not tested it myself (given I've not played in a while, nor have I managed to get stuck there). I believe it should work, but perhaps it does require a minimum distance from the other survivors to force the bot to 'want' to move. I would test it myself, but I don't have the game installed haha.

I got myself stuck there and another teammate was going far away with other bots, as far as possible, and then Idle, nothing happened :p

hmmm, how long did you idle for? Perhaps idling doesn't force the bot to teleport in survival due to a lack of flow distance in survival compared to campaign/versus.

I was waiting for more than a minute. Maybe it works after start the round, idk, I'll test it again with the clock running. But I saw bots teleporting in vs or campaign like you said, maybe it works different in survival.

While I am all for raising the standards for si counts on all the maps (4 si per minute was always a joke, especially after the Master Update), I feel a couple of these numbers are just a bit high. 7 si per minute seems like a good number to me except for the few maps that always have insanely high counts, Port Passing, Rooftop, or Bus Depot.

Edited orientative average SI count needed for list Top 10 records after watching stadistics of new records in this last year.

Edited Concert how to deal with SI stuck with more details and graphic explanations to avoid more misunderstandings.
