The Multiplayer: Playing Multiplayer Games

The History of TheMultiplayer is a long one, and full of chaos. The original founder, under the name of UDCbey, founded TheMultiplayer, in an attempt to form a group to unite gamers that he knew. However, TheMultiplayer had failed, had had less than ten members, none of them contributing to the wellbeing of the group. Unable to continue with this group, he handed over the group to Zesty Chicken, then known as Brianluluoyi. UDCbey went on to found a group for his school, CISHK, allowing for a larger group, with more people. His recruitment tactics, however, were questionable, as he allowed anyone to join, including inactive members of Steam.

Meanwhile, TheMult, under Brianluluoyi, was beginning to gain members, but was far smaller than CISHK, due to the fact that entry was limited to people with paid multiplayer games, a policy put in place to create an elite group of gamers, who just wanted to have a good time. After a while, TheMult had built a reasonable base of members, many of them core members of CISHK. Soon, Brianluoyi realized that CISHK was rotting away with inactive members, and that UDCbey did not want to deal with this, due to the fact that fifty members, no matter how active, still looked like a good achievement. Brianluluoyi declared to UDCbey that if he did not kick inactive members, he would declare war.

UDCbey, worried about the future of the group, decided to kick all members who had been offline for over fifty days. This was not satisfactory however, and the warning still stood. After several days, it was clear that UDCbey was not going to comply with the demands of TheMult, and Brianluluoyi declared war.

The war did not seem favorable to TheMult, as many of the members in TheMult were still loyal to CISHK. However, a turn of events came when a prominent but undervalued member Connorthehun was convinced by Brianluluoyi to join TheMult in exchange for a moderator position. Connorthehun implemented many new features to TheMult, and made TheMult a more appealing group to the members part of both CISHK and TheMult, causing many of them to defect. Soon, Brianluluoyi, with assistance from moderator Portalfield, another prominent member in the group, and moderator Connorthehun, issued an ultimatum that all members of CISHK would be kicked from TheMult.

With the last of the active members of CISHK deserting CISHK in favor of TheMult, UDCbey realized that once again, his group had failed. After a two-week war between the two groups, UDCbey surrendered, and returned to TheMult as a moderator and the founder, rather than a surrendered leader, and thus began the golden age of TheMult.

With the newfound peace and prosperity, TheMult began to expand and grow. For his efforts in the war against CISHK, Connorthehun was made an administrator. Soon after, Portalfield followed, forming the first triumvirate of TheMult. Members such as Thrift shop, Archdemon and the Hiipster Prototype came up with ideas such as TheMult news, giveaways, and raffles. The administrators didn’t slack off either, with Portalfield forming TheMult’s official TF2 team, the Frozen Reapers. Everyone contributed to giveaways and raffles, and everyone had fun.

However, this prosperity was short-lived. With the foundation of the Frozen Reapers, TheMult had entered the dangerous world of competitive gaming. A man known only as Mars, who had not sided with either CISHK or TheMult had joined a formidable team named Team Galactic, and TheMult moderators Ultimate Dishwasher and Vegan T-rex (previously known as UDCbey) had also joined them. Missing two of their best players, the Frozen Reapers, were helpless, as they only had one player that could stand up to Team Galactic.

With the lack of talent on the team, the Frozen Reapers hired help from Australia, a man named Matt Icy. He told all of his skills as a medic, but when the two teams finally squared off against each other, Matt Icy was proven to be a terrible player, and the Frozen Reapers lost by a crushing score of 10-0.

With this demoralizing loss and the loss of two moderators, TheMult started to fall apart. The first triumvirate of Zesty Chicken (previously Brianluluoyi), Connorthehun, and Portalfield did everything in their power to keep the group intact. These included many lucrative giveaways by Portalfield. However, with the rise of League of Legends in the community, many core members, including TheMult news founder Hiipster Prototype and veteran member Archdemon fell into the bottomless pit of inactivity. With the lack of active participants, there were no more giveaways or raffles, thus ending the golden age of TheMult.

And so TheMult became a shadow of its former self. Like CISHK before it, there were many members, but it was an inactive community. The combination of internal betrayals and external influences and defeats had led to this outcome, but this is not the end. There may come a day, when Zesty Chicken is forced to end the group as UDCbey did his, but today is not that day. There may come a day, when the Three Wise Men fall apart, but today is not that day. If all the members of TheMult rise again, led by our glorious leader(s), then that day may never come, but only if we are united under one flag: the flag of TheMult.

However, a recent tragedy has befell TheMult: Portalfield, one of the Three Wise Men, passed away of natural causes, leaving only the two wise men. Without Portalfield, TheMult was further weakened. Therefore, a new wise man had to be elected, someone who could reinvigorate the members of TheMult, and bring back TheMult to its former glory.
