Rules
Gist: Play with a vanilla purist mentality and avoid ambiguities. When in doubt ...

Client, Server and CVAR Settings

Issue circa 2011

Changing lerp is allowed as well as changing crosshair size, colour and thickness values, the usage of a static crosshair (cl_crosshair_dynamic "0") is also allowed, using a mat_hdr_level with a minimum value of 2.0 is mandatory

Any script which gives you an advantage over a standard player is forbidden. Weapon fire scripts for fast shooting in any form are not allowed such as auto pistols this includes binding +attack to mousewheel.

The usage of the following are allowed:
  • Demo Recording
  • Say and Vocalize Binds
  • Crosshair Settings
  • Glow Colours
  • Netgraph Toggle

Issue circa 2012, 2014

The pause function can only be used if a player loses connection, a round must consist of the same team members from start to finish, a substitute player is not allowed.

VAC must be enabled on the server and rounds must be played on servers with no changed server settings and plugins that affect the general gameplay, plugins such as Survivor Upgrades, Tank Damage Announcer & Tickrate Enabler are not allowed.

Exploiting, Game Bugs and Illegal Actions

Issue circa 2011

Moving supplies from their default map layout is forbidden with the exception of Gascans, Propane Tanks, Oxygen Tanks and Firework Crates.

Preventing infected from climbing ladders or blocking infected paths with moveable props such as forklift trucks, shopping carts, etc... is forbidden.

Blocking of AI spawn points by purposely allocating a player to stand in a certain position is forbidden.

Strategies that cause special infected to become stuck are not allowed, some maps are more buggy than others but every effort should be made to kill them rather than purposely leaving them stuck, under no circumstances should admin commands or server plugins be used to free or kill them.

Issue circa 2013

Going idle allowing a player to be immune to damage from chargers, escape the effects of a boom, and instantly rid oneself of stun damage or the effects of being defibbed is not permissible.

Screenshots and Demos

Issue circa 2011

A screenshot at the end of the round must be taken showing the final time and statistics, records won't be included if they have a Special Infected and Tank count well below the average for that particular map.

Issue circa 2014

It is mandatory for all players to record a point of view demo for the full duration of a round. Incomplete, defective, manipulated or edited demos are unacceptable and will in general be treated as missing demos.
