Rules & Guidelines
mNosGaming Rules of Conduct
Last revised August 12th, 2017

1. Be good.

Treat other people the way you want to be treated. Every account is another human being who is excited about gaming. Disagree calmly and intelligently, do not attack each other when you don't share the same ideas. Show them the same respect you wish to be shown yourself. Refrain from comments that would be considered as rude, disrespectful, or harassing. Follow your good conscious. Do not do unto others as you wouldn't wish done unto you.
  • (a) Personal attacks on other members, groups of members, or staff are unacceptable and are grounds for an immediate strike. Slurs and derogatory terms should never be used on this website and community. We strive to be a welcoming community accepting those from all walks of life and respect each other as such. It is in your best interest to be constructive and polite in your posts.
  • (b) Altercations and abuses occurring in-game are to be resolved privately via PM. The community moderators have no authority to act upon in-game occurrences.
  • (c) 'Vigilante justice', including but not limited to ‘naming and shaming’, via the website and its forums is not condoned or acceptable, and will be acted upon as reported.
  • (d) You are not allowed to post another member's personal information such as their email address, other website profiles, or other sensitive material without their explicit permission.
  • (e) Do not discuss moderation actions, customer service details, or affected penalties.

2. Keep the garden clean.

  • (a) Do not post content that is at risk of being illegal or deemed highly inappropriate by western society at large. Including but not limited to: pornography, narcotics, and piracy.
  • (b) Do not post SPAM - Stupid Pointless Annoying messages. Including but not limited to: re-posting deleted content, responses to discussions that are a meme (single image or video), repetitive posts of the same content that serve no purpose, posting in a manner that is off-topic to the discussion.
  • (c) Do not use inappropriate or abject objectionable material in your signature, avatar, or profile.
  • (d) Stay on topic. Threads that derail significantly from their original intent will be closed.

3. Trolling and Flamebaiting.

Do not post messages specifically intended to get a rise out of others. We know there's an impulse to do it, but it doesn't contribute to the community, it tears it down. Help form a great community, not to endlessly frustrate those who are part of it or will become a part of it. Included, but not limited to:
  • (a) Do not create avatars and signatures intended to bait, defame, ridicule, insult or otherwise mess with other users.
  • (b) Parody at the expense of other members is forbidden. Do not copy other members' profiles or their groups'.
  • (c) Starting threads on controversial topics simply to generate an argument is forbidden. (“HEY EVERYBODY PVP RULES AND PVE DROOLS!”)
  • (d) Posting to another guild’s recruiting thread in order to harass them is forbidden. Guild recruiting threads are for guild members and those interested in joining, not for fights between guilds.
  • (e) Impersonating a moderator or staff of mNosGaming, including by similar or parody forum handle, is grounds for an immediate ban.
  • (f) Should a moderator edit your post, do not remove those edits or notes.
  • (g) Please do not feed the trolls. It may end in harm for you.

4. One member - one account.

While you may possess many 'alt's for gameplay reasons, you may only post from a single forum account.
  • (a) When a member posting through an “alt” is discovered, the member will be asked to choose which account they would like to continue using and the others will be revoked. This rule will be applied when alt usage is discovered, not pre-emptively applied to accounts with the same IP (which could be used by family members or shared roommates.)
  • (b) The use of alts may not be used to circumvent penalties of forums and chat. Any account discovered doing so will have its ability to contribute to the community permanently removed, and the probation on the original account extended (if warranted.)
  • (c) Posting on behalf of probated accounts will result in action against the posting account.

5. To protect and serve.

Constructive criticism is always acceptable and is the only way we can improve. Make good, courteous, use of the website and its facilities, for your enjoyment and for all of our enjoyment.
The website and staff are here to serve you, and the rest of the community. Ideally, the two co-exist to mutual benefit. However, should the need arise, the benefit of the community as a whole triumphs the one.
  • (a) You are encouraged to work directly with the staff member to resolve issues or, users are encouraged to seek assistance from the team lead or administrator.
  • (b) The flagging system is here to point out any posts that may be breaking the site rules. It is not here to make fun of a moderator’s ruling or insult other members. Do not use harsh language in your flag description and do not flag posts simply because you dislike or disagree with another member and wish to "bring down heat" upon them. Do not re-flag a post. Each flag is reviewed and often flagged posts require no action. Flagging posts that are older than 1 month will take lower priority than recent posts.
  • (c) Do not argue with moderators in chat, forum postings, or private messages. Passive-aggression and oblique reference is still arguing. If you have an issue with moderation decisions, you may submit a ticket directly to Community Management by emailing: support@mnosgaming.com
  • (d) Harassment of any member of the mNosGaming staff, in any way shape or form, are absolutely unacceptable and will not be tolerated! This includes, but is not limited to, personal insults and threats, racial and religious epithets, sexual orientation, real-life information and threats, and insults based on nationality.

6. Contribute to the community.

We want to hear from you. Some of the best ideas come from the unlikeliest thoughts, so if you have something to add stand up and say it! Remember, the purpose of the community forums and chat is to help the development team create the best possible community and games. We love posts that help us build our world and hate ones that waste our time by involving staff in unnecessary drama, moderation oversight, or rumor mongering.
  • (a) Posts discussing rumors or misinformation, including the posting of rumors and/or personal opinion as fact, are not allowed.
  • (b) Posts designed to rile up or divide the community and spread unrest, including FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) are not allowed.
  • (c) Discussions of politics, religion, race and other such topics outside the intended sub-section are strongly discouraged, and will be actionable upon if they turn to drama and agitation.

7. Community events.

If you wish to run a contest, it must follow the following guidelines:
  • (a) Must be free to enter.
  • (b) Must not be biased towards age, gender, religion, nationality.
  • (c) Must have a clearly defined end-date.
  • (d) Must have a clearly defined minimal prize pool.
  • (e) Must announce winners at the end of the contest.
  • (f) Must not require people to register or visit on 3rd party websites (including Instant or Video chat services and social network sites).
  • (g) Must not request personal contact details in advance.
  • (h) Any contest that offers a better chance to win for becoming affiliated with a guild must take place in that guild's recruitment page.
  • (i) Must be clear that mNosGaming is in no way involved in the contest. Even if we’ve supplied a prize to giveaway, we are not “in partnership” with the contest organizers.
  • (g) The moderation team reserves the right to shut down contest threads which become derailed, violate the spirit of our community in any way we deem it fit such, or any other reason at our sole discretion.
  • (k) All offered prizes must be given away to a winner participating in the contest.
  • (l) When in doubt: ask before starting a contest.

8. Armchair ace attorney.

These rules are guidelines, not a comprehensive and immutable codex.
Resorting to literizing of rules or lawyering is a weak and transparent defense and will be regarded as such. If your idea of a good time is to find ways to troll the community without technically breaking one of these rules, know that you will still be banned and or punished.
  • (a) “But I’m not technically poking you!” is not cause for the nuanced legal debate you’re imagining.
  • (b) “But this other person did this and got away with it!” is not an excuse or justification for poor behavior (and is a logical fallacy). Nor will we discuss any actions, taken or otherwise, involving other members.
