Hello chaps,

One of the main reasons I started this group was to see how much of you would be interested in partaking in Competitions and Tournaments with your fellow GoN Regulars. The first thing I'd like propose is a PUG (Pick Up Game), to test the water on how keen you all are for these events.

There are a few different variations of PUGs out there, so let me explain the type I believe to work the best:

1. Book a 32p server. Have people join - first in, best dressed.
2. Everyone joins Spectator.
3. Two Captains are chosen (voted/random - doesn't really matter)
4. We arrive to the conclusion on who picks and attacks first somehow.
5. Captains join their respective team.
6. Captains take turns to select players to join their team. (1,2,1,1,1,1,1...)
7. Once you are selected, join the appropriate team.
8. When teams have been sorted, a 3 minute setup/discussion time is given to sort out classes, tactics etc.
9. Match begins.

Notes:
- This is normally done 12 v 12, but I'm keen to see how a 16 v 16 will work out.
- Maps are voted for beforehand.
- Each team will be given 20-30(?) minutes to attack. The winner is the team with the most points.
- It's kinda like a 16 v 16 with no 300ping-newbies hanging off teams. Or even a competetive clan match without clans. In short, it gets quite interesting.
- Player picking is crucial. Would you first pick the best attacking player available, or the medic your team will fail without? At what stage will you pick that Engy you need? What will your opponent pick? It's all about getting the right balance.
- Once a player joins a team, he/she may help the captain in the selection of their next pick. However, the captain's choice is final (to save time).
- Class Limits will apply to keep things interesting. Not too outrages though, something like no more than 2 or 3 of each Heavies, Engies and Snipers per team.
- No random crits
- Some weapon restrictions - coming soon.
- The more mics the better.
- If a player leaves, the next person to join the server automatically takes his/her spot.
- AFKers over 10 minutes will be kicked.
- Keep it classy: No Team Swapping and No Bug Exploits (yes, this also means no Sandman/Pyro exploits during setup time).
- Normally these things have a Referee in Spectator, but we can work without one. Just make sure not to waste too much time on team selection.
- This will most likely be on a Saturday night, and will run for about 2 or 3 maps. Captains and Teams are rechosen each map.
- Have fun.

If this has a good response, future ideas include more PUGs, a knockout Highlander Comp and a State vs. State Tournament.
