[Group FAQ] Common questions I get from you
So I decided to set up this FAQ after some questions I received personally, which led me to the conclusion that there might be some missunderstanding of the rules for some. Most of the information can be found in the group's page and links, but here it goes:

How did you come up with this idea?
- On Christmas 2012, it occured to me that it would be great to wake up one day and have many wins in SG just overnight. Like Santa bringing me toys (yeah I know there is no Santa) when I was a child. Thus I came up with the idea of simultaneous giveaways. But then I gave it more thought and realized that it would cause many rerolls if there were many giveaways of the same game, so there goes another rule.

What's your criteria on choosing who joins the group?
- Well as you can guess, I can only judge the internet profile of a person, starting with their SG profile of course. I check to see if they have the attitude of "giving" and not abusing CV values. Later on I check our common friends and groups etc. Of course there are some people that need no introduction who get invited upon request. I like to give a chance to new (to such events) people too. Lastly, past events are taken into account too.

I got kicked from the group, why is that?
- Before the start of each event, all members are kicked. This way, only those re-interested will apply again and might get picked. There is also the case that you broke a rule, so shame on you...

I've been in your (or other) past events, why don't you invite me again?
- That's a good question that you can answer yourself.

Do I have to make lots of giveaways?
- No, only one giveaway is mandatory and we call it your "primary giveaway". But, if you feel like it you can create more "secondary" giveaways and you are welcome to do so. After all you were picked for having that "giving" profile haven't you?

What requirements does my primary giveaway have?
- First of all, it shouldn't be a duplicate. No other giveaway or reservation for the same game must exist. Secondly, it must not have been included in a bundle[www.steamgifts.com] or in any HB Monthly. Thirdly,it must end at a specified time and date. It is also required that your primary giveaway must gather at least 1/5 of the group's size in entries. That means for a group size of 70, your primary giveaway must have at least 14 entries. And lastly, it must be created and should be valid 48 hours before the event ends

What requirements do my secondary giveaway(s) have?
- The only rules that apply on secondary giveaways is that there are no duplicate giveaways and that they end at the same time as the rest of the giveaways. This means that you can gift bundle games too, as long as you have fulfilled your primary giveaway requirement. Secondary giveaways don't have a restriction on getting 1/5 of the group's size in entries

What time and date should my giveaways end?
- Click the link on the right side of the group's page (Giveaways Ending Time) and input the converted time and date as your giveaway's ending time and date. If you use our script then the correct ending time for your region can be set with the press of a button

How do I know if a game has already been reserved?
- Everyone that creates or reserve a giveaway, should post it in the "Simultaneous Giveaways topic".There is also a spreadsheet you can find linked in that topic but at the group's main page as well, with all the giveaways, which I try to keep up to date. All you have to do is check the spreadsheet and then check the forum topic after the point where I explicitly state that I've updated the giveaways. Since TheTimmaeh created our site, then you will be notified with error messages upon reservation of a title if it is already reserved. We will no longer use spreadsheets and the forum topic to mark titles as taken.

Is there a way to see what the group wishlists most?
- As a matter of fact, there is. Check this topic.

How can I know how many people own a game?
- Check the previous question

Why the 48 hour restriction?
- I need some time to check that all members have complied to the rules and if needed kick them. Also other members need some time to check on whether someone got kicked and deny him any wins he may have from their giveaways.

I have reserved a giveaway but I no longer want to create it. Is it ok?
- It is ok if you have just reserved the game. If you have reserved the game for a long time and you then change your mind, I call it a foul. Depending on your case it will be decided if it's a yellow or a red card. It's also accepted to un-reserve a game for special cases like a simultaneous duplicate. In any case, you have to ask me before un-reserving your game.

What happens if I break the rules?
- You will be kicked from the group and any wins you may get will be rerolled.

What happens if I don't deliver the games I giveaway after the end of the event?
- You will probably be blacklisted from the group, unless there is justification for your actions.

[NEW] Why the rule about pre-orders?
- Well we've had cases where games given away are still not released which sucks for the winners but also causes issues if someone decides to leave SG for good.

[NEW] Why do I need to befriend everyone?
- Steam now only allows you to gift to a friend directly instead of keeping the game in your inventory. Since every sane person want to get games on a discount and Steam sales have specific duration, it makes sense that we have already have every possible winner in our friendlist.

[NEW] What scripts are you talking about?
- Script using on SG is common and welcome, but scripts that give an unfair advantage on our reservation phases are unethical and also spoil the fun on everyone. If you don't know what scripts we are talking about, no need to find out, just don't use any on our events.

[NEW] Can I reserve a game on another members behalf?
- I have addressed this case in this topic.

[NEW] We have a "chat bot"?
- In our last event Daerphen made a chat bot for us with some useful functionality for which you can find more in this topic. Availability of the bot is up to Daerphen of course

What't the group's timeline?
There are also steam calendar events set up but the general idea goes like this:
- [Cleaning group phase] All previous members are asked to leave the group. Those who fail to do so are kicked. This is done so that only those re-interested apply here and probably get reinvited.
- [Recruitement phase I] First there is the recruitement phase where I put up a forum topic and gather applications and send out invites. Duration is about a week.
- [Recruitement phase II] When we reach 45 members the last 5 will be picked from a list of 20 remaining applicants by votes of those 45 members.
- [Reservation phase I] A giveaways topic will be created were you can only reserve one giveaway you plan to make. Also known as "Single Reservation Phase". You will be allowed by the site mechanics to only reserve one title. This phase lasts for 72 hours.
- [Reservation phase II] Also know as "Full Reservations Phase". You are now allowed to reserve as many giveaways as you want.
- [Giveaways creation phase] A definite ending date is set and you can start creating your giveaways ending at that specified time. This phase might overlap with previous two if not enough time is available.
- [No more giveaways phase] 48 hours before the giveaways ending time, the giveaways topic will be locked the site no longer links you to create giveaways and I will check if members fullfilled the rules. If needed there will be kicks.
- [Happy winners phase] Giveaways have ended and most of us feel happy with their wins.

More may be added, so keep tuned... :)

I'd switch "in a bundle" link from bundle wiki to SG bundle list - wiki is outdated, not covering many bundles (OneMorebundle, DIG or AmmoBox just to name a few) and it could be misleading that for example non-from-bundle but exploitable games are ok as primary ;)

Prolly nothing to worry regarding our members, but as recruitment links to this FAQ it may be misleading ;)

You are right, changed it here and on main page links. Thanks!
