ANP Discord
Discord is a pretty cool app that combines IRC/Slack like chat with voice comm. I thought we could try it out for organizing competitive play or just general bullshit.

If you're brave enough, follow this link and create an account https://discord.gg/p9ES5eq

That sounds pretty good! Never heard of Discord before, but it looks really promising.

Slack is awesum.

I'm holding out for Tox to get it together, since it's still alpha software and all. It isn't geared towards gamers, but is certainly more secure than NSA-Messenger Skype.

Do you seriously, unironically expect a project that came out of /g/ to ever "get it together"? That's very optimistic of you.

That's no argument, man.

Just look at how far the project's come.

Does it have a cam feature?

That does look pretty nice though.

It seems like clients have interoperability issues. See "Tox" is just the core. "uTox" and "qTox" are both clients using that core. As such, there is some client incompatabilities right now, but I'm certain that will all be worked out in the near future.

People just like to talk about impeding doom and that's fine. But don't discredit a project simply because "lol, imageboard users made it."

This software is trash and I'll use it in protest just to be close to ANP current trends, but mumble needs no replacement, only activity.

Hello. I would love to provide an update to my last comment as, almost 3 years ago I was quick to the trigger.

Discord grew to be the most used trash in all of internet trashland, mumble sucks now and I can't live without this, WTF HAPPENED TO ME?
glub♥Linux 12 Aug, 2019 @ 7:31am
Why do you think Mumble sucks now? It's still as good as it has always been.

Discord sucks though, that's for sure.

Well, I'll have you know that 3 years later you were wrong. Tox and it's numerous clients are now very much usable and I'm using it on a daily basis right now.

I foresee a great future for Tox!

The software is the same, it's us who are different. It lacks the features that people have come to expect from services, like inline images, emojis and dank meme 'stickers'...

Why do you think IRC is dying? It's because it functionally can't compete with other services.
