You might want to give this a look,

Have those 153 hours of yours been played on the same computer? Have you verified the game's cache? (Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache)

Anything apparent that might be different since it last worked?

For a moment I thought it worked for you since you went in the game and you didn't say anything afterwards.

Since it does launch; only crashes post-intro. Have you tried asking on the game's forums?: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/311210/discussions/

Not sure if you found a fix for this, but I had the same issue and was able to resolve it. Turned out my problem was AVG had updated this afternoon unbeknownst to me, and BO3 wouldn't launch this evening. I tried rolling back my graphics drivers, restarting numerous times, etc. Finally I turned off AVG temporarily (through process of elimination of closing other programs that might've been interfering), and BOOM, BO3 finally launched. So you can add an exception in AVG for BO3 and it should let you launch it then.

TL; DR - AVG is the culprit, add an exception for BO3 in AVG's Advanced Settings.

Yes, AVG is on the list and in bold and with a green symbol.

"* We recommend that applications listed in bold with a ( * ) symbol are fully uninstalled from your system if disabling them does not resolve the issue"

EDIT..Always reboot after uninstalling software in order to troubleshoot Steam issues.

Happy to help :) These types of things are so damn frustrating and hard to find a good answer to a specific problem.

Have you moved your install location with a third party app? I was struggling with the same problem then realised I'd used Steam mover to move it to a different drive. I cleared the shortcuts 'uninstalled' it, then pointed Steam at the drive I'd moved it to, sorted it out for me.
