Temp. Work Around for the Random Map Generator...
If you have the original game, legit or not, make a random map(or a map of your choosing). set it up how you want it to and MAKE SURE IT'S FOR THE ORIGINAL GAME(not the expansions cause they didn't release those yet) and save it on your desktop. Then, load up the new HD Map Editor. Open the same file. Save it to be something different(add a 1) and copy it to this directory...
"...\Steam\steamapps\common\Heroes of Might & Magic III - HD Edition\data\maps\EN"
Load the game... Voila. Simple. As for issues, use your best guess as I am very busy thoughout the day. I'll try to respond whenever I can.

What about the MP? If I'll start the game on custom map, will other users be able to download it through the game?

I never said it couldn't read just fine. Obviously, it's clear that it will. I said that to bypass a possible crash when trying to load it without saving it through the new editor. I didn't know about that community collaboration of the editor though. It seems that either way, the game still has it's original random crashes.
