Small Support Update From Overkill.
With the latest update, Overkill have noted that :

"We support the PAYDAY modding community and want to make things easier for you. Not long ago we invited Tatsuto from Last Bullet Gaming and Olipro, the developer of Hoxhud, to sit down and talk about how we can help you guys.

As a first step, we are introducing a way for you to handle your mods.

Mod instructions
1. Create a root folder for your mod inside [payday2 root]\assets\mod_overrides

2. Place the override files inside your mod's folder.

Example of a texture and a soundbank being overridden:
[payday2 root]\assets\mod_overrides\george_supermod_v1.01\units\payday2\characters\shared_textures\civ_female_1_df.texture
[payday2 root]\assets\mod_overrides\george_supermod_v1.01\soundbanks\accomplice_driver_2.bnk

You can override the following file types:
texture, material_config, animation, model, bnk, stream.

In the Start menu, navigate to Options -> Mods.
In the Mods menu you can browse your mods and check for eventual conflicts.
Resources that conflict between mods will be printed in red font."

We hope our beloved modding community puts this small step in the right direction to good use!

Happy modding!

And now, a word from Tatsuto who is well known in the Modding scene! :

"Additionally we at Last Bullet (specifically our programmer spy) is going to release a version of the mod tool the coming days which fully supports the overwrote folder. It however may be a beta but it should be functional ;) It should however make modding a lot easier and faster."

Nice Job overkill!

Great news! No more hassle of restoring backups and verifying game files every update!

Well we can't override the post_processor file so you will still need the bundle tool for that as far as I can tell from moving all my files to this new format; however, you can edit the pdmod to remove the files you can override to make the process of removing/installing bundles faster.
Is there any way to extract the content of a .pmod file?
Lil 24 Oct, 2014 @ 7:12am
Same way you extract a zip file. I use 7zip for it myself.
It seemed so simple that I didn't even thought of that, I feel dumb ^^'
EDIT:Password needed, don't know what it is :/

Beautiful initiative of OVK, we appreciate. This will greatly facilitate our work and who will use.

Well, I think I'll wait the new modding tools since I don't know the directory for the extracted files.

EDIT: Found how, but still waiting for an easier way to do it :p

Can you add and reference custom textures in Lua, or is this strictly for overriding existing ones? Could be useful for custom HUD icons, crosshairs etc.
Milk 24 Oct, 2014 @ 8:46am
You can override the following file types:
texture, material_config, animation, model, bnk, stream.
I got a question. I have a pack of 4 suits for the Heisters (Heat Themed one), I managed to get the first person view to work with it, but it doesn't work for the Third Person. I suppose it's the directory I did that is wrong. What's the directory for the Third Person view textures? Right now my directory for this pack is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\PAYDAY 2\assets\mod_overrides\Skin_PD2HeatSuit\units\payday2\characters\shared_textures"

Can you please allow to override the post_processor? I want to use Zdann's Graphics Tweak (gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/218620/discussions/15/35221584323339427/)
